Maroa-Forsyth proved they can win big  last Tuesday (they won by 40) and  on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Athens Warriors  58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Trojans have posted  since December 28, 2024.
 Despite the  loss, Athens saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Sawyer Hill  went 9 for 16  en route to 23 points and seven  assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most  points  Hill has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of  James Jones, who  posted eight  points along with 11  rebounds and three  steals.
The  win  got Maroa-Forsyth back to even at 10-10. As for Athens,  they are  on  a  six-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 12-14.
 Maroa-Forsyth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  60-35  defeat against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on the 8th. As for Athens, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  matchup,  a  64-61  loss against Prairie Central on the 8th.
