Basketball Recap: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

Thompson Valley has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 65-50 to the Roosevelt Roughriders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roughriders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-41 back in January.

Despite the loss, Thompson Valley still got an impressive performance from Mekayla Macias, who to rack up 16 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Justee Durtsche, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Thompson Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Kyla Hollier was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 16 rebounds for Roosevelt. Hollier's big performance that afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 23 points. Ryanne Bahnsen-Price was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards.

Thompson Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Roosevelt, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Thompson Valley will head out to take on Palisade at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
