Basketball Game Preview: Warner Monarchs vs. Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds

The Warner Monarchs will take on the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Warner: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Wolsey-Wessington has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

On Friday, Warner lost to Florence/Henry on the road by a 65-49 margin.

Meanwhile, Wolsey-Wessington entered their matchup against DeSmet on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Wolsey-Wessington fell just short of DeSmet by a score of 53-51.

Warner will have to keep a close watch on Caleb Richmond and Moshe Richmond, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wolsey-Wessington's prior game. Caleb posted 19 points, while Moshe went 7-for-14 on his way to 17 points.

Wolsey-Wessington's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Warner, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Things could have been worse for Warner, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-41 loss to Wolsey-Wessington in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Warner, Tate French (who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
