Football Game Preview: Bridgeport Bulldogs vs. Hemingford Bobcats

Bridgeport has won seven straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Hemingford has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Bridgeport was fully in charge, breezing past Morrill 56-6. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-6.

Bridgeport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nikolas Weibert, who threw for 110 yards and three TDs. The dominant performance also gave Weibert a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Another rusher making a difference was Zackary Jeffords, who rushed for 75 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Hemingford put their dominant defense on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They blew past Sutherland 69-0. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bobcats had established a 53-point advantage.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hemingford's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Tayten Haas was the leader with 2.5. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

Hemingford's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Bridgeport, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Bridgeport took their win against Hemingford when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 36-12 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
