Basketball Game Preview: Anamosa Raiders vs. Starmont Stars

The Anamosa Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Starmont Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Anamosa and 16 for Starmont.

Last Tuesday, Anamosa was beaten by Bellevue 63-34.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 87-13, which was the final score in Starmont's tilt against Springville on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Orioles are ranked 74th).

Starmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Anamosa, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Everything came up roses for Anamosa against Starmont in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 68-10 victory. Does Anamosa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Starmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
