Football Recap: Dixon Rams vs. Sutter Huskies
After flying high against El Camino last Friday, Dixon came back down to earth. The Dixon Rams had to suffer through a 50-6 loss at the hands of the Sutter Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 639th, while the Huskies are ranked 287th).
Coleton Shipley threw for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Wesley Besseghini was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards. On the ground,
Jackson Cummins rushed for 58 yards.
It was another big night for Marcus Meras, who rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries for Sutter. Meras' longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Scritchfield, who rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Dixon's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Sutter, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Dixon will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on October 11th. Dixon is facing Woodland at the right time seeing as Woodland is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Sutter, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-0 victory against El Camino on the 4th.
