Softball Recap: ALA - Gilbert North Takes a Loss

ALA - Gilbert North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-3 to the Saguaro Sabercats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Coco Gomez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

ALA - Gilbert North's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Saguaro, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. ALA - Gilbert North will face off against ALA - Queen Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. ALA - Queen Creek will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something ALA - Gilbert North surely won't give up without a fight. As for Saguaro, they will square off against Mesquite at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mesquite has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Saguaro will no doubt try to take advantage of.
