Baseball Game Preview: Half Moon Bay Cougars vs. Terra Nova Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Half Moon Bay Cougars face off against Terra Nova Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Half Moon Bay's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Rancho San Juan.

The team relied heavily on Connor Heath, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Terra Nova had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 4-1.

Cooper Santamato looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Brody Finale was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.

Terra Nova's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Half Moon Bay, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5.

Half Moon Bay couldn't quite get it done against Terra Nova in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-8. Can Half Moon Bay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
