Basketball Game Preview: Hoke County Bucks vs. Overhills Jaguars

The Hoke County Bucks will face off against the Overhills Jaguars at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Hoke County: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Overhills has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.

Last Tuesday, Hoke County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-55 to Pinecrest. While losing is never fun, the Bucks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Patriots are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Overhills came up short against Freedom Christian Academy on Saturday and fell 58-45.

Overhills has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Hoke County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Hoke County couldn't quite finish off Overhills when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 59-56. Thankfully for Hoke County, Chauncy Kelly (who went 9 of 18 en route to 24 points and six boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
