Preview: Central Mountain Wildcats vs. Lewisburg Green Dragons

Central Mountain is 1-6 against Lewisburg since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Mountain Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Lewisburg Green Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Central Mountain pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Selinsgrove.

The losing side was boosted by Hunter Hoy, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Mahoney, who scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Lewisburg took a serious blow against Troy on Saturday, falling 72-32. While losing is never fun, Lewisburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while Troy is ranked 61st).

Central Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Lewisburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Central Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Lewisburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 69-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Mountain since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
