Basketball Recap: Wings Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Rushawn Greene and Emmanuel Nieves

Wings Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 89-81 to Monroe Campus. The Wings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Monroe Campus earlier this season, when they won 65-64.

Wings Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emmanuel Nieves, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 18 points along with eight boards and five steals, and Rushawn Greene, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists. That's the most steals Nieves has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Deshawn Carnegie Jr, who went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points.

Wings Academy now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Monroe Campus, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-6.

Wings Academy has already played their next contest (against Stevenson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Monroe Campus will take on DeWitt Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
