Softball Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Meridian Wildcats
The Quitman Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Meridian Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Wayne County hit Quitman with a 11-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the War EaglesLady War Eagles, falling 12-2. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the War EaglesLady War Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
JALISSA HARRIS made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Meridian came up short against Forrest County Agricultural on Friday and fell 13-9.
Justice Carter-Dunn was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylyn Grace, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Quitman's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Meridian, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
