The Penn Cambria Panthers will face off against the Tyrone Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when Penn Cambria took on Chestnut Ridge on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 28-7 margin over the Lions. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Penn Cambria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Lilly, who picked up 80 receiving yards and one TD. Another signal caller making a difference was Brady Jones, who threw for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Penn Cambria's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nate Mack, Maximus Watt, and Matthew Eckenrode, who each picked up one sack apiece. Corbin Vinglish was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tyrone, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on Huntingdon with a sharp 41-21 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won six in a row.
Penn Cambria better keep an eye on Caleb Whitby. He was instrumental in Tyrone's win, rushing for 200 yards and four scores. Those 200 rushing yards gave Whitby a new career-high. Eli Woomer was another key player, throwing for 200 yards and one TD on only 18 passes.
Tyrone was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntingdon only rushed for 156.
Tyrone didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Owen Oakes and Mason Emigh. Tyrone is undefeated when Oakes posts one or more interceptions, but 1-3 otherwise.
Penn Cambria's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Tyrone, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Penn Cambria took their win against Tyrone in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 39-14 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
