Softball Recap: Bucktail Wins Going Away Against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech

Bucktail's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Rams as they made off with a 20-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bucks in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

Carrie Ditty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ditty was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenna Stone, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Lola English was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Bucktail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bucktail's record is now 4-5. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Bucktail will challenge Sullivan County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they will face off against Muncy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
