Softball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Marauders vs. Fishers Tigers

The Mt. Vernon Marauders will face off against the Fishers Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mt. Vernon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Lapel on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to the Bulldogs.

Mt. Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ameila Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Fishers faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with the Royals: they've now lost three in a row.

Kate Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Fishers, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
