Recap: St. Joseph Wildcats vs. Middle Township Panthers

The St. Joseph Wildcats managed to keep up with the Middle Township Panthers until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. St. Joseph was the victim of a tough 87-62 defeat at the hands of Middle Township. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Middle Township is ranked fifth).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middle Township to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amir Elston, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 2 assists. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Re'Ale Basquine, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.

St. Joseph now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Middle Township, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

St. Joseph will head out on the road to face off against Hammonton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Middle Township, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against College Achieve at 3:00 p.m.
