Baseball Game Preview: Coahoma Bulldogs vs. Denver City Mustangs

The Coahoma Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Denver City Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Coahoma came up short against Brownfield and fell 7-4. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Coahoma saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Theron Ott, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Josiah Patton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Denver City entered their tilt with Stanton on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Buffaloes. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly four runs.

Andres Ornelas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Denver City pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coahoma, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Coahoma might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Denver City in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
