Thunderbird Adventist Academy extended their home winning streak to eight games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Aziel Perez. Thunderbird Adventist Academy came out on top against the Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion by a score of 42-31 on Tuesday thanks in part to Perez, who went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Gedeon Habimana, who posted no points along with 12 boards, five assists, and four steals. Those 12 rebounds gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Wickenburg Christian Academy lost, don't look at Tate Poppe. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Poppe is becoming a predictor of Wickenburg Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 14-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Braden Dickinson was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy has already played their next game, a 63-53 defeat against Trinity Christian on the 23rd. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-28 victory against Jefferson Prep on the 22nd.
