Immanuel Christian falls despite big games from Gus Jackson and Josh Choat

Recap: Immanuel Christian Warriors vs. Fredericksburg Christian Eagles

The Immanuel Christian Warriors struggled with assists on Thursday (the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Immanuel Christian took a 69-50 bruising from Fredericksburg Christian. Immanuel Christian was down 57-35 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Immanuel Christian had strong showings from Josh Choat, who scored 17 points along with four steals, and Gus Jackson, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Titus Anyabwile, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Leading Fredericksburg Christian to victory were Isaac Holst and Carter Johnson. Holst almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Johnson scored 23 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Eli Martin was another key contributor, scoring three points along with seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Immanuel Christian and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Immanuel Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Christ Chapel Academy at 6:45 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Immanuel Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against King Abdullah Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. King Abdullah Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Fredericksburg Christian likes a good challenge.
