It's playoff time, and Somerset Academy - Canyons had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pahokee Blue Devils a 27-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Somerset Academy - Canyons' win came down to the chemistry between Ava Wotipka and her top target Delanie Doty. Wotipka threw for 219 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of her passes while Doty picked up 70 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most receiving yards Doty has posted since back in March of 2024.

Somerset Academy - Canyons' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Jazlyne James and Kiana Sanchez, who racked up all four sacks between them.

The victory (which was Somerset Academy - Canyons' third in a row) raised their record to 12-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for Pahokee, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Somerset Academy - Canyons will square off against Oxbridge Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 5.8, the ThunderWolves 4.4) so any points scored will be well earned. Pahokee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
