Bakersfield came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Independence, but Aria Moreno wouldn't allow it. The Falcons put the hurt on the Drillers with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday for which the team can thank Moreno, who had 32 digs and two aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more digs the last 15 times she's played.

Independence was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-11, 25-23.

Independence was led to victory by Raya Sanders and Amari Johnson. Sanders had eight digs, while Johnson had 12 kills, eight digs, and two aces. That's the most digs Sanders has posted since back in September.

Bakersfield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Carly Arambula, who had 18 digs and two assists. Another player making a difference was Sydney Lewis, who had ten digs and two aces.

Independence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11-1 record this season. As for Bakersfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
