Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Prattville Christian Academy's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Prattville Christian Academy barely beat Tallassee the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Panthers have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Laura Nesmith, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Tallassee off the board. Nesmith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Thrash, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hollon, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Prattville Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Prattville Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tallassee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Looking ahead, Prattville Christian Academy will be playing at home against Alabama Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Tallassee, they will take on Spain Park in a tournament on Friday.
