Soccer Recap: Palo Verde Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Palo Verde and Gilbert Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Palo Verde had to settle for second. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Gilbert Christian Knights who were credited with the victory. The Gilbert Christian Knights got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to the Palo Verde Titans' five. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Knights are ranked 18th).

Palo Verde hit Gilbert Christian with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Mechack Mathumo, Victor Gonzalez, and Mouhamed Diallo.

Palo Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Gilbert Christian, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Palo Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gilbert Christian, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Catalina on the 18th.
