Volleyball Recap: Sylvan-Lucas Takes a Loss

Sylvan-Lucas was the 2-0 winner over Osborne when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell 2-0 to the Bulldogs on Saturday.

While Sylvan-Lucas ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17.

Morgan Finkenbinder paced Sylvan-Lucas' offense, picking up seven kills. Finkenbinder were helped by Josie Svaty and Lily Pancost, who contributed six assists each. Finally, Lauren Brokes kept Sylvan-Lucas' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Osborne found their leader in sophomore Gentrie Riner, who had 11 digs.

Sylvan-Lucas' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Osborne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Sylvan-Lucas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Pike Valley on the 30th. As for Osborne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Logan/Palco on the 27th.
