Softball Recap: Cape Fear Colts vs. Gray's Creek Bears
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cape Fear and Gray's Creek meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Cape Fear took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gray's Creek. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 22-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Addy Davis and McKinley Kolasa stepped up to the plate in a big way. Davis scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Kolasa scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Peyton Eason, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Cape Fear's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Gray's Creek, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
