Softball Game Preview: Higley Knights vs. Queen Creek Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Higley will face off against Queen Creek. Higley will be playing in front of their home fans against Queen Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Higley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Higley fell victim to Queen Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 10-0.

For Queen Creek's part, Higley's batters probably weren't too happy with Aubrey Chavez, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Chavez has posted since March 1st.

On the hitting side, Queen Creek got a massive performance out of Alessia Velazquez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Emma Reynolds was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Queen Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Higley struck out 14 times.

Queen Creek has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Higley's loss dropped their record down to 5-11-1.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Higley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Queen Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
