Basketball Recap: San Luis Obispo Classical Academy Gets the Win

San Luis Obispo Classical Academy's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 win over the Maricopa Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grizzlies have posted since December 7, 2023.

Maricopa lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Diego Rivera, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Rivera continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Roa, who posted nine points and six assists.

San Luis Obispo Classical Academy's record now sits at 5-9. As for Maricopa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Luis Obispo Classical Academy will head out to face off against Valley Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maricopa, they will venture away from home to take on Cuyama Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuyama Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
