Softball Recap: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos
Del Norte lost to Rancho Bernardo on April 14th, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Nighthawks walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Broncos.

Ava Giaime made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Giaime, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alexis Kyles, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The win got Del Norte back to even at 10-10. As for Rancho Bernardo, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Del Norte is set to take on their familiar foe Poway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rancho Bernardo will square off against rival Mission Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
