Basketball Recap: Hammond Morton Takes a Loss

If Hammond Morton was riding high fresh off their 77-55 takedown of Calumet New Tech last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hammond Morton Governors lost 76-53 to the Warsaw Tigers on Saturday. The Governors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Hammond Morton lost, don't look at LeBron Hill. Despite the final result, he en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Those 22 points gave Hill a new career-high. Michael Woods was another key player, to rack up 13 points.

Hammond Morton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points over those games. Warsaw's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Coming up, Hammond Morton will square off against Crown Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
