Softball Recap: Superior's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Superior was the 7-0 winner over Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines on Thursday. The loss put an end to the Spartans' undefeated start to the season.

Matteline Schilling made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige B. Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Superior fell to 2-1. As for Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia], their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Superior is taking a road trip to face off against Cloquet at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia], they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Cambridge-Isanti at 12:00 p.m.
