Baseball Recap: Como-Pickton Eagles vs. Sulphur Bluff Bears
Como-Pickton put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sulphur Bluff Bears a 6-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for Como-Pickton as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Sean Carpenter was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kobie Wright, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Como-Pickton's victory bumped their record up to 10-11-1. As for Sulphur Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Como-Pickton will square off against North Hopkins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Hopkins knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Como-Pickton likes a good challenge. As for Sulphur Bluff, they will head out on the road to take on Miller Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
