McIntosh County Academy extends road losing streak to five

Recap: McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers vs. Atkinson County Rebels

The McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 64-35 defeat at the hands of Atkinson County. McIntosh County Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.

Atkinson County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Northcutt has scored at least 25% of Atkinson County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Moore, who scored 12 points.

McIntosh County Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Atkinson County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McIntosh County Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brantley County at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th. Atkinson County and Jeff Davis will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
