Volleyball Game Preview: St. Augustine Catholic Wolves vs. Cholla Chargers

St. Augustine Catholic is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Cholla a seven-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The St. Augustine Catholic Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cholla Chargers at 5:00 p.m. Cholla took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Augustine Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, St. Augustine Catholic turned things around against Amphitheater on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Panthers. That looming 3-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolves yet this season.

While St. Augustine Catholic might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Amphitheater scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 27-25, 21-25, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Cholla lost 3-0 to Sunnyside on Wednesday.

Cholla was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-14.

Cholla's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-9.

St. Augustine Catholic beat Cholla 3-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will St. Augustine Catholic repeat their success, or does Cholla has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
