Basketball Game Preview: Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

Exeter-West Greenwich is 1-8 against Mt. Hope since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Mt. Hope Huskies at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Exeter-West Greenwich is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 59-47 win over North Smithfield.

Meanwhile, Mt. Hope humbled Providence Country Day with a 61-31 victory. That looming 61-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.

Mt. Hope found their leader in sophomore Maleaq Roderick, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Roderick's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Thompson, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Mt. Hope smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Mt. Hope has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for Exeter-West Greenwich, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Exeter-West Greenwich ended up a good deal behind Mt. Hope when the teams last played back in January, losing 60-42. Can Exeter-West Greenwich avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
