Basketball Recap: Bearden Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After losing to Independence the last time they met, Bearden decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bearden Bulldogs came out on top against the Independence Eagles by a score of 64-55 on Saturday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Eagles are ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bearden's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Bearden and Sullivan East will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Independence, they will challenge Pope John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
