Volleyball Recap: Fernley's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

If Fernley was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Spring Creek last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vaqueros fell 3-1 to the Dayton Dust Devils on Thursday. The Vaqueros' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Fernley actually scored more points across those four sets (95-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-20, 29-27, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Fernley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jocelyn Escartin had 27 digs. Those 27 digs set a new season-high mark for Escartin.

Fernley's loss dropped their record down to 23-7. As for Dayton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Fernley nor Dayton have any future games scheduled.
