Football Recap: Pinewood Prep Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Pinewood Prep's last matchup with Northwood Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Panthers came up short against the Chargers, falling 45-20. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Despite the loss, Pinewood Prep still got an impressive performance from Jayden Alexander, who picked up 171 receiving yards and one touchdown. Alexander really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 87 yards. Silas Brawner was another key player, having thrown for 253 yards and onetouchdown.

Northwood Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaven Ford led the charge by rushing for 168 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Ford has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Aydan Hogan was another key player, picking up 59 receiving yards and three TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Pinewood Prep and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Northwood Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Looking ahead, Pinewood Prep is taking a road trip to take on First Baptist School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Hurricanes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northwood Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Heathwood Hall Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
