Basketball Recap: Fox Comes Up Short

Fox was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Springer Cardinals and fell 73-45. The Foxes were down 56-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Sammy Gardner was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 21 on his way to 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Springer. The dominant performance also gave Gardner a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Darian Roberts, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Fox's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Springer, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fox will face off against Temple at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Springer, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Springer Cardinals duke it out with the Thackerville Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
