Baseball Recap: Blackford Wins Going Away Against Wes-Del

Blackford's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the Wes-Del Warriors 14-1. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Trey McIntire made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Blackford is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-6 otherwise. McIntire was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Trenton Norton was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Max Bonewit was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Blackford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wes-Del only posted an OBP of .200.

Blackford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Wes-Del, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Blackford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-2 defeat against Eastbrook on the 29th. As for Wes-Del, they have also already played their next contest, a 20-17 victory against Elwood on the 28th.
