Softball Recap: Highland Takes a Loss

Highland fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Triad on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 6-5. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured nine defeats in a row.

Kaitlyn Wilson spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Kamryn Leckrone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Holly Sexton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Highland's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Triad, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will take on Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Waterloo will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Highland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Triad, they will face off against Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
