Softball Recap: Currituck County Gets the Win

While Currituck County's win against Holmes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights won by a run and slipped past the Aces 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Julia Twine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Morgan Eisel was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Hassell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Currituck County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Currituck County's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6. As for Holmes, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Currituck County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Aces: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
