Basketball Recap: Danielle Gulley and Jenecia Swindell Secure Win for Pensacola Catholic

While Pensacola Catholic didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors on Friday as the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders made off with a 47-25 victory. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.

Pensacola Catholic was led to victory by Jenecia Swindell and Danielle Gulley. Swindell posted 19 points and four steals, while Gulley had eight points and nine steals. That's the most points Swindell has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Angel Purifoy, who earned six points and six rebounds.

Pensacola Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Pensacola Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Pensacola Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pensacola Catholic will head out to challenge Bayside Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Pensacola Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. After both having extra time off, Pensacola Christian Academy and Lighthouse Baptist Academy will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
