Football Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 33-6 loss at the hands of the Doherty Spartans. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 15 points allowed.

Even if they lost, Heritage's defensive line still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Phoebe Hudson and Mia Kidd, who racked up all seven sacks between them. Those four sacks set a new season-high mark for Hudson. Sydney Wilson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Heritage's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Doherty, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Heritage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-0 loss against Ralston Valley on the 30th. As for Doherty, they will venture away from home to face off against Dakota Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
