Recap: Cypress Woods Wildcats vs. Cypress Lakes Spartans
The Cypress Woods Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Cypress Lakes, falling 61-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cypress Woods in their matchups with Cypress Lakes: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jasmine Lee, who scored 11 points. Giada Brou was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two blocks.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress Lakes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aniah Alexis, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Alexis is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makennah Alexis, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Cypress Woods' loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 11-18. As for Cypress Lakes, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Cypress Woods will be playing at home against Langham Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Langham Creek will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Cypress Lakes, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cypress Lakes in Texas (Cypress Springs is ranked 11th, while Cypress Lakes is ranked 137th).
