Soccer Game Preview: Goochland vs. Orange County

Goochland is 0-7 against Orange County since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Fighting Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Goochland has given up an average of 3.7 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Goochland is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Albemarle, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Goochland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Albemarle are ranked 37th).

Orange County, on the other hand, haven't lost since April 14th and they too continued that trend. Their defense stepped up to hand Fluvanna County a 5-0 shutout on Monday. Orange County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Fluvanna County from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Orange County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those eight matches. As for Goochland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Goochland suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Orange County in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
