Volleyball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty and St. Monica squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Liberty had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Mariners.

Liberty started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-20, 25-20, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, don't look at Ashtyn Collier. Despite the final result, he had 31 assists and seven digs. Collier has been hot, having posted 15 or more assists the last seven times he's played.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 24-12. As for St. Monica, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-14-2 record this season.

Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Monica, they will head out on the road to face off against Rio Hondo Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Kares will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mariners surely won't give up without a fight.
