Softball Recap: Halls' Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Halls had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Powell Panthers a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Red Devils have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Emery Bales's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makaylie Hutchison was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Halls' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Powell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Halls is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge Knoxville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Powell has already played their next match (against Halls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
