Football Recap: Monterey Dores vs. Soquel Knights
Monterey won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a blow against the Soquel Knights, falling 33-6. The Dores haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Soquel was led to victory by Sam Whelan and Tyreis Lundy. Whelan threw for 103 yards and three touchdowns, while Lundy rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Whelan got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 60 yards.
Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Soquel, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Monterey will host Palma at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palma is coming into the contest with three straight wins on the road, so Monterey will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Soquel, they will head out to face off against Salinas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Soquel's defense has only allowed 9.8 points per game this season, so Salinas' offense will have their work cut out for them.
