Softball Recap: Colbert Heights Triumphs

Colbert Heights took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Russellville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Golden Tigers 4-3. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 victory the Golden Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

The team relied heavily on Missey French, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Autumn Willis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Colbert Heights is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 19-4 record this season. As for Russellville, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Coming up, Colbert Heights is taking a road trip to take on Florence at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Russellville, they will challenge Deshler at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Golden Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
