Basketball Recap: West Mecklenburg Takes a Loss

West Mecklenburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Hough Huskies 54-21. The Hawks lost against the Huskies in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-15 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hough to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chloe Galombeck, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 16 points and four steals. Sophia Zoerb was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points.

West Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Hough, their record is now 9-3.

West Mecklenburg has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against North Mecklenburg on the 7th. As for Hough, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-64 victory against West Charlotte on the 7th.
